Since 1986, Bethune House has been Hong Kong's most reliable refuge for migrant women worker’s in crisis. We are a community-driven emergency shelter that provides food, medical and other assistance. By providing for basic needs, we enable migrant women worker’s in crisis to seek justice and achieve empowerment because of insufficient support systems for them in Hong Kong.

What we do

Hong Kong’s almost 400,000 migrant workers form an integral part of the community. However, the migrant worker population is among the city’s most vulnerable groups. Many workers have their contracts terminated without fault of their own, while some suffer physical and psychological abuse at the hands of their employers. At Bethune House, we are dedicated to serving Hong Kong’s migrant women workers. We believe they deserve respect, dignity, and fair treatment. We aim to bridge the gap between the local Hong Kong community and the migrant worker population. That is why we do all that we can to ease the burden on migrant women workers in distress.
