Online Exhibit and Fundraiser featuring Bethune House Residents
Our student volunteers from German Swiss International School set up a fundraiser for our shelter! We are thankful for their generosity and creativity in curating this online exhibit. Please read the introduction by Ms Wong, a student at German Swiss International School.
I am Ms Wong, a student from German Swiss International School. Over the summer, I had a wonderful experience working with the women at Bethune House. Mindful Makers is a mixed-media art programme created in partnership with this shelter to support migrant women in Hong Kong through creative expression, reflection, and community. Over a series of weekly sessions, participants used collage, acrylics, markers, and other materials to explore themes of identity, belonging, and everyday experience, with each artwork accompanied by a short description on this website. I am deeply grateful for the trust and openness the women showed throughout this process; their stories and creativity have taught me so much about resilience, hope, and the quiet strength that often goes unseen. This experience has motivated me even more to continue supporting migrant communities and to build lasting, meaningful connections within the local community.
